Welcome to Anthony Ashton's Blog
Adult Psychologist and NHS Lecturer
My name is Tony Ashton and I have been practicing as a group analyst working in the NHS for about 25 years having worked previously as both a Registered Mental Nurse and a State Registered Nurse both in the UK, and Australia.Latterly my interested in widening out the analytic model of psychoanalytic psychotherapy from the individual........to the group and thence...... to the wider organisation/institution.

The psychoanalytic model , within which the unconscious life is also explored, has long been successfully applied to institutions such as general and psychiatric hospitals. In such settings, under-performance is usually understood in practical terms e.g. resources, training. For many years, I have been teaching this model within the NHS and helped teams to develop new ways of thinking, feeling and working which has enhanced their ability to perform the roles that they undertake.
